Our prime focus is to design effective single stage extraction reactor using S-CO2 as only solvent.
A supercritical fluid (SCF) is any substance at a temperature and pressure above its critical point. Carbon dioxide (CO2) is the most used supercritical fluid in extraction process as it has a near ambient critical temperature (31oC). It is non-toxic, non-flammable, odourless, tasteless, inert, and inexpensive.
The major advantages of supercritical fluid extraction
- It can diffuse through solids like a gas, and dissolve materials like a liquid.
- It Consist maximum solvent capacity and the largest variations in solvent properties, can be achieved with small changes in temperature and pressure.
- It can also selectively extract target compounds from a complex mixture.
- Supercritical fluids can produce a product with no solvent residues.
